Hair Care Favorites

Hello everyone and happy Friday!  I’ve rounded up a list of all of my most used hair care products and wanted to share them with you.  I love discovering new gems, but these are a few of my tried and trues that I’ve been using on a daily basis for some time now.  Leave me a comment with some of your favorites!

Amika Soulfood Hair Mask – I have a true love for all Amika products and this hair mask is one of my favorites!  First off, all of their products smell amazing without being too strong of a scent.  This mask leaves your hair smelling good and feeling moisturized.  It also gives it a really nice shine.

Amika The Wizard Detangling Hair Primer – This product really is a wizard when it comes to detangling.  The longer my hair gets, the more of a nightmare it becomes to brush out and this product truly does wonders for that.  This is by far the best detangler that I’ve found out there!

Ouai Leave-in Conditioner – Ouai is another really amazing hair care brand that I’ve tried several products for.  I use this leave-in conditioner every time I wash my hair because it smells delightful and helps to protect against heat damage.

EVO Shebang-a-bang Dry Spray Wax – I discovered this product through a hair stylist and have been using it ever since!  When styling my hair I really prefer to use some sort of texture spray rather than a regular hair spray that will make my entire head hard and crunchy.  This one is especially good for shorter hair because it has a wax-like consistency that is great for spraying on your ends for texture.  This brand also has a sea salt spray that I like a lot as well.

Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray – This product is a bit on the pricier side, but I have been using it for years and it does last quite a long time.  This is another one of my favorite texturizing sprays because it helps get that tousled look just right without feeling like there’s product in your hair.

Summer Makeup Roundup

Alright, it’s official…Summer is in full swing and we may actually find ourselves spending more time out of the house than we did this time last year!  As the weather warms up our skincare products and makeup routines may change along with it.  I’ve been experimenting with some different beauty products for Summertime that I really love and wanted to share with you!  Here’s a roundup of my new favorite products that have been added into my makeup routine.  Click on the product for a link to it and the shades that I’ve been using.

Cream Blush – I’ve been loving this one by Ilia, which is technically both a cheek and lip tint.  It’s very subtle and provides the perfect amount of natural looking flush.  Because I tend to have pretty dry skin, I like that the cream blushes and bronzers moisturize and don’t just sit on top of the skin like chalk.

Liquid Highlighter – Following along with the goal of moisturized, dewy, sun-kissed looking skin, liquid highlighters are a must try.  I’ve been using this one by Rare Beauty and it’s exactly what I’d been looking for.  This highlighter gives that perfect natural looking sheen without looking like glitter on your face.  I also like the fact that it’s easy to apply a small amount and then build from there because a little bit of this product goes a long way.

Ilia Limitless Lash Lengthening Mascara – When it comes to mascara I always find that layering a couple different ones works best.  This has quickly become my new favorite mascara to start with.  I love that the wand has three different sides for you to choose from that really do separate and lengthen your lashes.

Maybelline Lash Sensational Sky High Mascara – As far as I’m concerned this mascara takes the cake for drugstore finds.  It separates and lengthens your lashes really nicely, and the price point can’t be beat.

Laneige Lip Glowy Balm – I was looking for a lip product with just the slightest amount of tint to it that wouldn’t be too sticky or intense.  This gloss smells yummy, hydrates your lips, and gives you a touch of that really pretty bright Summer color we all want.

Brow Gel – I came across this Bare Minerals product when i was looking for something that would give my brows a very natural, fluffy look while still holding them in place.  This gel is really easy to apply and has a serum that works to lengthen your brows as you use it!

Tarte Cream Bronzer – This bronzer is pretty popular right now and there’s a reason why.  I like that there’s no orange or shimmer to it and it just gives a really nice, natural looking glow that you can build upon depending on how dark you want to go.

Thanks for reading!  Please comment with any of your favorite Summer products.

Skincare Travel Tips

If there’s one thing I worry about most when traveling, it’s how to take care of my skin.  Between being on the airplane, moving between varying climates, and having a lack of time for self-care it can be really difficult to make sure your skin is getting the attention it needs.  I try to combat all of these factors by making sure my carry-on bag is stocked with a few different items.  Links to all of the items can be found by clicking on them!

Face Masks – These are a lifesaver because they can be used on a flight or if you have some down time at the hotel.  These are a few of my favorites!

Tula Under Eye Balm – This stuff really does exactly what is says which is cools and brightens your under eye area.  I use this every morning and throughout the day.  It’s like a shot of espresso for your face!

Face/Body Wipes – The Sephora wipes are by far my favorite for removing makeup.  They also come in travel size packs of 10, which are usually what I bring with me on short trips.  The Dude Wipes have been a game changer for me when it comes to travel.  If you’re going someplace where you’ll have to be using a lot of public restrooms that won’t have toilet paper such as Asia, these are amazing.  These wipes can be used for so many different reasons and they also come in smaller sized travel packs.  I’ve also used these as makeup removers in a pinch many times and they have not made me break out at all.

Hair Products You’ll Love

A majority of the beauty involved questions that I get have to do with my hair, so I wanted to share some of my most used hair care products along with some styling tips that I’ve learned along the way!

Products You’ll Love

Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray

Bumble and Bumble Color Minded Shampoo

Caviar CC Cream

Ogx Coconut Oil Dry Shampoo

Tip #1 Less is more : This means a lot of different things for me when it comes to my hair. For one, I only wash my hair a couple of times a week. This may be easier for some depending on the length and texture of your hair, but the longer you can go in between washes the better. Secondly, I very rarely use actual hairspray and when I do it’s a small amount. There’s nothing worse than having clumpy hair that you can’t run your fingers through, and on top of that it tends to look a lot less natural the more product you use.

Tip #2 Curl AWAY from your face : For most people, curling the face-framing pieces away from your face will be most flattering. Curling the pieces right by your face toward it will give you that very fancy old Hollywood glam style, which is great for certain occasions…but not an everyday/ natural look.

Tip #3 Try something different : I’m extremely guilty of getting stuck in hair ruts, especially with the way i style my hair. I’ve always thought that I didn’t like my hair straight until I recently tried switching it up and ended up loving the change. I’ve also let my hair fade back to its natural color, which has been an unexpected fun way to switch it up. Try a new color, cut or style…it will grow back!

Summer Beauty Favorites

While my beauty routine stays fairly consistent from the Winter into Summer since I live in a climate that doesn’t vary much, there are still certain products that I reach for once that warmer weather hits. Here are a few of the products I make sure to stock up on! All of these products can be found at either Ulta or Sephora. Leave a comment and share some of your favorite warm weather products!

OGX Extra Creamy + Coconut Miracle Oil Lotion

I don’t know about you, but I always say that i want to smell like peppermint in the Winter and coconut in the Summer. This lotion is amazing! It’s the perfect coconut smell without smelling super sweet. It’s super moisturizing and makes me feel like I’m in Hawaii all summer long. Not to mention, it’s a great price and you can find it at most drug stores.

Sun Bum Coconut SPF 30 Lip Balm

All too often I find myself super proud that I remembered to re-apply sunscreen on my body all day long only to find later on that my lips are the one thing that end up being burned. I like this lip balm because it is made specifically for sun protection, but also hydrates at the same time.

Mario Badesque Facial Spray with aloe, chamomile and lavender

For me, this product is not just a Summer product because I use it all year long, however it is absolutely essential in those warmer months. I spray this on my face all throughout the day when my skin is feeling dry. It’s just so refreshing and seems to give my skin the pick-me-up that it needs. I also use it as a setting spray both before and after I do my makeup. They also make a cucumber/green tea version, as well as an herb and rose water. I love them all, but the lavender is the one I find most invigorating!

Dry bar Mai Tai Spritzer Sea Salt Spray

I love to have the beachy, effortless waves look in the Summertime. If you can’t actually get to the ocean, this sea salt spray is as close as it gets. I’ve tried a lot of different products, and with many of them I don’t seem to notice a difference. This spray works really well and smells great! I’ll spray a little bit while my hair is still damp, and then sometimes a bit more after I’m done curling it. It’s also great to use on it’s own if you’re just letting your hair air dry.

Benefit Cosmetics Watt’s Up! Highighter

We all want to have that super dewy, glowing skin that J-lo has. I love this highlighter because it’s creamy and goes on smooth. I usually apply this to my cheek bones, Cupid’s bow, and the bridge of my nose. It’s also great to put on your shoulders and collar bone if you’re wearing an off-the-shoulder top!
